About

国产偷拍, Inc. is a financially independent, nonprofit media organization with more than 250 students working across our journalism, business and web divisions to bring you 国产偷拍 and Post- Magazine. The Herald has served as the daily newspaper of record for the Brown community since 1891.

Our mission is to inform, entertain and reflect the Brown community by producing relevant and engaging content across a variety of platforms. As a teaching organization, we are committed to attracting and training a diverse staff, representative of the Brown student body, and helping them develop skills they will use for the rest of their lives.

The Herald is published Monday through Friday during the academic year (excluding vacations), with additional issues during commencement and orientation.

鈥 Who owns The Herald?

The Herald is a nonprofit organization, incorporated in the state of Rhode Island in 1975, though we have printed since 1891. As an institution financially independent of the University, the students on the editorial and business boards make all decisions involving the operations of The Herald, with support from Herald alumni who serve on our board of directors.

鈥 Who works for The Herald?

More than 250 students are responsible for the editorial and business aspects of The Herald, committing between one and 60 hours per week. The Herald also employs a full-time staff member to assist in business operations.

鈥 How do I join The Herald?

The Herald offers opportunities for gaining valuable experience in journalism, business, and many other areas. Anyone can join all departments of The Herald 鈥 no experience is necessary, and we will train you in any area. Positions are available in news, arts & culture, science & research and sports reporting, website design, data journalism, photography, graphics, opinions, finance and sales. The business staff trains students in operating all aspects of the Herald corporation, including advertising, accounting, publishing and operations.

鈥 How can I submit a story for my group?

Though The Herald does not accept unsolicited news stories from the community, we welcome your suggestions for covering any events or topics that might be relevant to our readers. While staff limitations prevent us from covering every story that might interest our readers, we try to cover news that affects the largest parts of the Brown community. We do accept op-eds from student groups. Please contact us if you have any suggestions or ideas for our coverage at herald@browndailyherald.com, or refer to our submissions page for op-ed submissions.

鈥 How do I get an ad into the paper?

If you are interested in placing a display or classified advertisement in The Herald, please contact our business staff by email at advertising@browndailyherald.com. Advertising rates and information are available on our Web site at /page/advertise.听

鈥 How do I submit a column?

Any member of the Brown community can apply to become a regular staff columnist. If you are interested in contributing an op-ed, refer to our submissions page or reach out to opinions@browndailyherald.com.

鈥 Has The Herald ever been accused of treason against the United States?

Yes. In 1933 the R.I. House passed a unanimous resolution accusing The Herald of communism and treason for its "War Against War" intercollegiate pacifism movement. Providence attorney William Needham 1915 called the efforts, which were quickly endorsed by other college newspapers, "a foreign movement of communistic tendencies."
